Chapter 13
The house was awake early and they had eaten breakfast and went about their duties for the day. Sheila agreed to help run the bar but admitted she didn’t want sole responsibility. She liked her time at home with everyone too. So they decided to hire someone for the Job. Curtis came in when he heard and asked if he could take it over as management below them of course. Dawson and Baha agreed as long as he shared what nights Sheila wanted. Beth decided to stay on and work her normal shifts and they hired another female bartender to work the nights Sheila didn’t. Dawson and a few of his men got started on building on the extra room, Baha and Sheila got started on getting the extra room upstairs ready for Melinda. Curtis had moved into a cabin so they had a spare, they put up new curtains and changed the bedding and comforter. Put out fresh flowers and new rugs. They cleaned the room top to bottom and had it ready by the time Blade arrived back with Melinda.
Baha was nervous, she had showered and slipped into simple jeans and a t-shirt, she put on one of her new ones that spoke of living free. She wanted to let Melinda know that her lifestyle was a simple one with Dawson. She wasn't sure how to explain about Blade yet but him as their mate deserved to be recognized too. How could that ever be anything but wonderful. She loved the way that men filled out their leather riding gear, a pair of jeans and t-shirt.
She asked Dawson to braid her hair down her back, and only applied a little perfume from a bottle he had bought her. They were in the sun room sitting with coffee in the new chairs they had bought watching Dawson work on the expanding floor and walls, It was a nice day so they had pulled one of the sun room walls down to be replaced after they built the floor and back walls around the Jacuzzi, when they heard the car pull into the drive.
Baha shot a nervous glance at Dawson and stood heading for the foyer where she would meet them, she felt Dawson step behind her in his usual protective stance and he laid his hands oh her hips so she felt closed in and safe. Melinda walked thru the door Blade opened for her, and looked up at Baha and Dawson, no doubt she probably noticed Dawson first he was so big and tended to stand out, then her gaze dropped down to Baha.
She smiled so warmly and walked in hesitantly, "Hello Baha, I would know you anywhere, you look so much like your father and uncle."
Baha smiled back and simply said Hello. Dawson filled in Baha’s stunned silence. Melinda didn't look much older than Baha.
"I trust you had a nice trip with no problems?"
"It seems so yes," she responded and looked back at Blade for conformation, Blade nodded and kissed Baha’s cheek as he passed and went to put Melinda's luggage in her room.
"Your Bodygaurd there is quite a man, at first glance he is very scary, I would hate to be on his bad side, but after we got going he proved to be polite and quite good with conversation."
Baha smiled, "Yea, when Dawson brought him here he was not so easy to get along with, I had to work on him some." Baha looked up at Dawson and giggled at his smiling face.
"Melinda this is my husband, Dawson. We were officially married last week actually." Dawson stepped forward and shook Melinda’s hand.
"Why don’t we go sit back in the sun room, little one."
"Oh yes, I’m sorry I am just so excited about meeting you, what am I thinking." She heard Dawson laugh as he took her hand.
They walked into the sun room and Dawson offered her a cup of coffee after introducing her to Sheila and the men there helping Dawson work, which were sent on a break for awhile. Blade rejoined them and took the chair behind Baha as they started to talk. She told Baha things she couldn’t remember about the times they had spent together, she told her that they had only been able to concieve once and that was their son Colby, that he had gotten in with the wrong crowd and wanted more and more money from them until they finally had to cut him off and tell him it was his place to make his own way.
"When you were with us, we spoiled you because you were the only girl child in the family at the time. You also have another living aunt, your father’s sister, although none of us have been close in years so…" she trailed off. "Sweetie, I am afraid to understand everything, you must hear the whole story and it might be a lot to take in." Then she looked at Dawson and got a gleam in her eye.
"Although I have a feeling your husband has made what I have to say a little easier." She laughed at their surprised expressions. "Your father and uncle shared the same mother, but not the same father. Your father was born before your uncle and to a human man." She again glanced at Dawson and she saw his surprise. "Baha your uncle and other members of your family were not human. They were wolf." She looked up at Baha to see her reaction, at first she was one of surprise then, she looked to Dawson and then back.
"I think you and your husband aren’t human either, but I don’t like to assume."
Baha spoke up. "No, Dawson is wolf as well as many of us, and yes I have also been turned, I chose to mate with him in every way."
Melinda nodded like she already figured as much.
"Anyway, when you were small, your grandfather, Your father’s step-father, was Alpha of their small pack, as I suspected of your husband." At Dawson nod she went on. "He tried to push your father to mate you with one in the family, so you would be accepted among them, back then there were ways to be promised to a mate without the sexual bonding. A wolf could have imprinted on you and you would have grown loving that person, knowing he would be your mate. Anyway, no one wanted any parts in that. Especially your father, we all felt that was a decisions you alone should make like any other woman does, and besides we didn’t want you to miss out on your real mate." She smiled at Dawson.
"Anyway several males wanted the option to be your mate and when your father realized a few of them were willing to get their hands on you agreement or not just to imprint you, we had to stay with you at all times. Fear that one of them would get too close and ruin your life. So the time came that your father had enough and decided to run with you. We finally found you when it seemed everything had died down, and contacted your father, but he wouldn’t even allow us near you and told us not to call again. He feared the family would find you and there would be trouble again, so we respected his wishes. Your uncle was Alpha when your grandfather finally passed and we just wanted to know you. We thought we could protect you, but my son decided you were the last in the bloodline as far as Alpha blood went and he wanted to be the one to find you and mate with you hoping to gain position over the pack. We just learned that recently from some of the men from the pack. They have already chosen a new Alpha and no one has any desire to change that."
Baha looked up at Dawson and let out a loud breath.
Dawson looked at Baha and spoke his thoughts, "Did he know I was a wolf I wonder when he found me and brought me to your home? Did he mean for us to meet Little one?"
Baha shook her head. "I don’t know, Dawson."
Melinda chimed in. "It might be he hoped something would happen with you two if he suspected Dawson a wolf, and hoped that he could protect you." Baha nodded.
"Well it doesn’t matter now, Dawson, Blade and Shadow are here to protect me and my family. Him and his men, with my uncle leaving me that small fortune," she threw out smirking at shooting Melinda a look. "We have already started a few expansions on to the house, nothing big."
Baha finished. Melinda nodded her head, "We wanted you to be able to better your life however you saw fit to do that, at least we wouldn’t worry of your ability to care for yourself. "
"Thank you." Melinda then asked her about her life here and their businesses and how she met Dawson. Dawson kissed Baha and they went back to work while the women caught up.
The men had the room basically finished except for raising the wall they had took down when they began, by dinner. They were going to finish before they quit for the night. Baha and Sheila fixed dinner and were about to sit down to eat when they got a phone call from the Sheriff.
"Baha we need you down at the Bar, honey. There has been an incident down here."
"What’s wrong Eddie, what happened?"
"I’d rather you come down here and see for yourself Baha."
Baha felt dread, she knew something bad had happened and she was in no hurry to get there, she hung up the phone, told Dawson. Blade loaded up in his truck, taking Melinda and Sheila, and Baha jumped on the bike with Dawson. They headed to the bar, It had only been open back up the past two nights and already something had happened. When they got there they saw the Sherriff’s car along with some deputies. A paramedic and Shadow standing outside with a crying Beth.
Shadow spoke first.
" We were in the kitchen fixing ourselves some dinner, we thought everyone was gone and we were done cleaning except for the kitchen. When heard one of the bar doors thump closed so we came out to look. There was a blond, laying on the bar dead. Someone had to have brought her in and dumped her, don’t know who she was."
Baha was shocked. "WHAT?!"
Shadow looked at her with sympathy, "Yea, sorry Baha. I have no clue what’s going on."
Dawson spoke up, "Maybe a warning to Baha and us?"
"Very possible, especially after Baha’s attack." This came from Blade, "Especially now that she isn’t working at the bar and they can’t get to her."
They all sat stunned watching as the police went over the crime scene and brought the girl out, her hair was the same color as Baha’s, she wasn’t as small as Baha but she was pretty. Someone had been brutal with this woman, they had obviously hit her several times according to the bruses on her face, her clothes were torn from her body and hanging in rags off her body. She looked so pale, her face frozen in horror as someone had hurt her. Baha turned away from the scene and buried her face in Dawson’s chest.
They went back home and Baha showered again and fell into bed, Dawson wanted to finish the sun room because the house was wide open, so he and Blade finished raising and nailing the last wall. When Dawson came to bed later that night Baha was curled into a ball shivering, he knew the stress of the day had gotten to her. Turning her over her pulled her into his body and wrapped himself around her. Whispering words of love and safety to her she settled and fell into a deeper sleep. Blade didn't sleep with them tonight. He slept in one of the chairs in the sun room to keep watch.

Chapter 14
She was outside the bar again, taking the trash out like any normal night, except tonight she could smell him, knew he was there. She kept telling herself to stop turn around but her body kept moving forward. This time she didn’t hear a sound until the man jumped out from behind the shadows, he grabbed her hair and this time instead of a gun he had a knife. He pressed the knife to her neck, she felt the blood run down her neck where he pressed the blade. "Hi there little slut, I been watching you, you will never figure out who I am so quit trying." He told her with an evil laugh, he reached down and ripped her top off her body and started painfully twisting her nipples and laughing as she cried out and squirmed. She felt his erection, knew the more she struggled the more it turned him on, but she couldn’t help it, she still tried to get away. She felt him lick her neck then he drug her over and slammed her against the trash can. She felt him flip up the skirt she was wearing and try to stick his now bare cock up in her. "It’s my turn to get a piece of this ass slut, and when I am done I’ll kill you so no one gets a piece again. She opened her mouth and started screaming for Dawson, she screamed until her throat hurt, but she couldn’t stop. Someone had to hear her and save her.
She felt hands grab her and shake her, begging her to wake up.
"I’m right here baby, open your eyes, please open your eyes and look at me."
Baha opened her eyes then realized she had truly been screaming, her throat really hurt. When she tried to talk it came out scratchy, "Dawson, it was a dream? OH thank god!" And she wrapped herself around him and cried, about that time the door burst in and Blade had a gun in his hand ready to kill by the look on his face. The others in the house rushed up behind him.
"What the hell, I heard her screaming?" He rasped out.
"It was a nightmare she is fine, sorry."
Every one left but Blade, he walked over to the bed. Calling one of the men to keep an eye on the house, Blade slid in behind her and wrapped her up from behind so she was totally surrounded by him and Dawson. Blade laid kisses along her shoulder and back as Dawson murmured soothing words and rubbed her sides. She quieted and held snuggled into Dawson's chest while she anchored Blade's arm around her and finally felt secure enough to sleep.
Baha woke in the morning still draped over Dawson, felt the chill at her back but was in no hurry to move, she knew her aunt was out there as well as everyone else that was concerned but she didn’t want to do anything today but lay in bed and act like the world didn’t exist.
Dawson was awake and he knew she had awakened.
"Baby, I know you're awake and in answer to the thoughts going through that pretty head, I can't let you waste away in this bed. That’s not the Baha I know, one who hides from life."
"That was before life got so hard. Did you see my dream last night Dawson, does our link work that way?"
"Well not at first no, but when you woke me struggling against my hold I was able to feel everything that was happening through our link anyway."
She nodded and still made no move to get up.
"We can't stay here all day baby, we need to work on the house today. I will be with you all day, I promise you will be safe. Besides Blade was pretty upset last night too."
Baha dragged herself up, got dressed in shorts and a tank top and headed downstairs, seeing Blade in a chair in the sun room she walked over and crawled up in his lap, curling herself in a ball and laying her head on his chest. She ignored everyone else, knowing it was stupid and rude but she just couldn’t bring herself out of it right now.
Blade wrapped his arms around her without question and held her tight, conversation picked back up around her like she wasn’t even there, she knew they did that for her and was grateful. She felt Blade bend down and kiss her hair or neck every now and then but his arms remained locked on her and without words. She started to doze on his chest after awhile, finally chasing some of the chill away, when she awoke again Melinda stood in front of Blade bent over to see her face with a cup of coffee in her hands. She held it out to Baha and waited for her to shift and take it.
"Take it Little Angel, I wont let go if you don’t want." She heard Blade murmur in her ear. She heard Sheila start to tell her about the changing and bonds between them in explination to Baha and Blade’s behavior. She didn’t seemed surprised.
"I think I have seen it before in my husbands pack and to be honest it makes me feel better to know she has more than one protector looking out for her."
Blade spoke then.
"Any of these men here would give their life for her, she charms us all." He said and laughed.
Baha reached out with her mind for Dawson, he felt it.
I am here baby, I am working on our room, Blade has you but I still promised you I wouldn’t leave.
She said all she could say,
I love you Dawson and you too Blade, I am sorry I am being weak but thank you!
We are glad you atleast let us feel needed.
Finally sipping the coffee and feeling alittle more human, she unfurled her legs and faced the room but didn’t leave Blade’s lap and he didn’t seem ready to turn loose either.
"I am sorry, I guess the past few days have been a lot to deal with." she told the room, but kept her eyes on the coffee. Sheila stood up and hugged Baha.
"Don’t you worry about it, we are all here for you sweetie. You're entitled to a breakdown too." she said and laughed. Baha laughed back and laid her head back on Blade’s chest finally looking out into Sheila’s and Melinda’s faces.
Looking at Sheila she said.
"Thanks Shea, for being so understanding about everything! You're like a long lost sister." She told her and turned her face in to inhale Blade’s scent. Feeling herself calm again. She finally got the courage to start telling them about her dream and when she was done she hadn’t noticed the tears streaming down her face, nor Dawson approach until he was before her and she felt him wrap himself around her and Blade. She was again wrapped into what Dawson and Blade had made a safe haven, she let it all out and cried like she hadn’t allowed herself before now. They sat and held her, rubbing her back. Their faces turned into her neck and both their hearts breaking for her.
She felt hands grab her and shake her, begging her to wake up.
"I’m right here baby, open your eyes, please open your eyes and look at me."
